4 Years?? Really?

Time is a funny thing. Sometimes you look back at something and think ‘I can’t believe that was 4 years ago! It feels like it was yesterday!’ While other times, you’ll look back at something else and think ‘That happened 4 years ago? It feels like much longer!’

And sometimes, you’ll feel a confusing combination of both types of feelings. This is one of those times.

Toddler Checklists

House hunting is never easy, especially when you’re trying to find your dream house while also attempting to maybe not go bankrupt in the process. Between all the things you need to check for (I’m looking at you faulty plumbing), and all the things you simply need (my kingdom for a large kitchen island!), trying to decide what is important and what you can compromise on can very quickly reduce you to a frustrated, stressed out mess.

Thankfully, our 3 year old is blissfully free from the stressful side of house hunting since all she really cares about is having a bedroom for her toys and a backyard for that pair of spider-monkeys she swears are crucial to her continued happiness.

Or at least that’s all I thought she was looking for in a house.

Me: what are you doing Lilly?

3 year old: checking for zombies.

Me: ….

Apparently my toddler has her own ideas of what to check for when house hunting.

On Starting Again

A very wise friend told me that when trying to get back into the blogging mindset after an extended absence, the best thing to do was start with a picture.
I'm sure she meant that start with a picture and follow it with an actual blog post, but I think I'll leave it at a picture for now.
Hope everyone is having a great summer!

6 Questions I Ask Every Morning

Being a parent involves asking a lot of questions, all day long, and repeating several of them throughout the day. And a lot of the questions we ask would sound completely ridiculous to a non-parent.

1) Where are your pants?

2) Why is there a unicorn in my purse?

3) Did you finish your breakfast?

4) Why haven’t you finished your breakfast yet?

5) Where are your pants?

6) Why isn’t there more coffee?

How is it Almost March Already??

I know, I know, it’s not very innovative or new to declare that ‘time really flies’ or ‘where did the time go’ but seriously guys, how is it almost March already? Wasn’t it just the holiday season with lights up on the houses and the New Year just around the corner? Wasn’t it just New Year Resolution season?? I know I’m generally quite absent minded but how did I just realize that it’s (almost) March and that the new year isn’t all that new anymore?

Note to self: buy a bigger wall calendar with one of those bright red movable squares to highlight the date. Hopefully I won’t disappear for another few months only to resurface with a post about how it’s the middle of summer and I don’t know where the time went.

Or maybe just get a couple and put them up all over the house

Hopefully.

Toddler Logic vs Toy Company Logic

Toy company logic: Let’s make it teeny tiny, cute and completely useless, they’ll eat it up!

Toddler logic: I want that teeny tiny, cute and totally useless toy that I’ll forget about/lose within 4 hours of buying but am willing to throw a trantrum for right now!

Parents: … sigh

Please tell me I’m not the only one who feels this way about this explosion of ‘toys’ like shopkins, tsum tsums, mashems, fashems and  the like 😖

Nothing Like A Toddler to Dash Your Feelings of Self-Importance

3 year old: Mommy let’s go to the big bouncy place!

Me: Ok Lilly, we’ll go tomorrow. Do you want to go alone or with friends?

3: No friends!

Me: Ok, go alone then?

3:  Not alone mommy, I want to go with you!

Me: Awwww, that’s so sweet, I’d love to go with you.

3: You have to go with me Mommy, I can’t drive.

Me: …..

Leave it to a 3 year old to shatter your allusions of being important.
