Here’s to all us parents, aunts, uncles and older siblings trying to protect our baby girls from ‘Them’…

Being someone who wholeheartedly fears my daughter ever feeling like she needs makeup or a man to be complete, this comic rings true. If she goes through a princess stage, so be it. Things could certainly be worse than having a little girl who thinks she’s a princess…I think. But here’s to hoping if she does, she at least passes through it and understands she’s beautiful, capable and complete as is.

    1. My thoughts exactly! There’s nothing wrong with liking princesses or stereotypically feminine things, but when society starts telling our girls there’s something wrong with them if they aren’t ‘girly’, then there’s a problem

    1. There’s nothing wrong with being ‘girly’ or being into the princess culture but what I hate is how society keeps telling our girls that there’s something wrong with them if they aren’t ‘girly’ enough 😦

  2. My daughter has been drawn to frilly skirts and cutesy things – she’s almost 2 and has adopted these interests on her own – but she also LOVES watching the cement mixer truck work on the construction site down the street and splash in mud puddles. I’m trying to let her explore her own interests (even if they involve princesses) but also introduce her to the many options – like women in engineering. 😉

    1. Sounds like an amazing little girl 🙂 I loved the princesses as a kid too, there’s nothing wrong in it, what I take offence with is society telling little girls they HAVE to like princesses and HAVE to be ‘girly’ 😦
