So here’s the thing: travelling post-motherhood is all scenic routes and Kodak moments in theory, but the reality is just a little bit different.
Don’t get me wrong, there are still plenty of views to view, pictures to snap and fun to be had even with (and a lot of times because of) a toddler in tow.
A road trip for work though means that while the husband works, the missus and the baby end up with a lot of time on their hands and there’s only so much site-seeing/window shopping one can do in subzero temperatures. Which of course translates into a lot of time spent in a tiny hotel room. With a toddler. A very active toddler.
Ever try to entertain a 14 month old in one small room without her mountains of toys? No? Well trust me when I say it is not for the faint hearted.
All I can say is, thank God for unexpected toys..
…’funny looking’ food…
… and when all else fails, cartoons to distract her long enough for Mommy to take a breather.
And that’s just the first day.
Oh well, I’m sure we can manage to squeeze another day’s worth of entertainment out of one small room, right?
Note: sorry if the image sizes or alignments are all off, this post had to be created on my iPhone and that is not as easy as I had expected >.<
